False Promises

Sheltered as we are,

In our mother’s womb.

Then, wrapped up in blankets,

Holding our fingers,

Small steps taken,

We come face to face,

With the false promises made.

One step at a time,

One promise at a time,

Steps taken were more,

Promises got left behind.

‘We are always there for you’,

The typical promise was made.

He said, she said

And the breaking of the promise,

Didn’t even totter the pin drop silence.

But life went on,

It was easier to fake a promise,

Than to say a NO.

And so the turtle joined back the race.
